THE VIEW Lugano, in collaboration with the other 5 star hotels in Lugano, will offer guests the opportunity to enjoy one of the most exciting festivals of the season, dedicated to the music of Ludvig Van Beethoven.
The Ludwig Van Festival is a new event to be held at the LAC from the 7th to the 9th of June, celebrating Ludwig Van Beethoven in a new guise, away from the usual format of the classical concert and as part of the annual program of the LAC’s resident orchestra. Co-produced by the “Orchestra della Svizzera italiana” and by the LAC, art and culture centre of Lugano.
The OSI directed by Markus Poschner will perform the Symphonies of the great German composer: Symphonies n. 1 and 3 on Friday 7th June at 8.30 pm in the LAC Theater Hall, Symphonies n. 5 and 7 on Saturday 8 June at 8.30 pm and the grand finale of the 9th Symphony will be played on Sunday 9th June at 9.00 pm in the open air in Piazza Luini.
The OSI will accompany more than 200 singers from all over Ticino in the hymn to joy.
This modern approach will see the revolutionary vision of Mauricio Kagel in dialogue with an intriguing exploration of the role of Beethoven’s music through a contemporary multimedia installation in the LAC foyer curated by the composer Andrea Molino, where irreverent and impromptu fragments of Kagel’s film “Ludwig van” will be a frame to the great Beethoven symphonic texts.
Many Regional Institutions are involved in the organization of this event: in addition to the LAC and the OSI with its principal director Markus Poschner, there will also be the students of the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland, improvising excerpts from Kagel on the works of Beethoven and the CISA- Locarno International Conservatory of Audiovisual Sciences, setting up monitors with Kagel’s videos.
